<six bits>bench rest powder
Bench rest powder.
Do you use it in a 17 Remington?.

<Lightnin>The obvious answer would be "WHATEVER WORKS IN YOUR RIFLE" How do you define "benchrest powder"? Mine likes Re-7 best but does just fine with 4198-H322-VV133-4320 and a variety of others.

I was asking about Hodgdons guess new Benchrest powder.
tried some today,21 gr was getting up there as a hot load.
Very clean buring, little shut as with H 414.
Didn't have ny corny set up to check the speed.Would guess they were fast oh from the muzzel blast.
Have to try some more and get the data.
POI was 1 1/2 " from the varget loads with the 25 gr uncoated bullet.

Yep thats the powder .Am I ever screwed up.
It really burns clean.Just have to fine a load that will group a little better then a inch and half.
Going to try it with the Starke bullets, they shoot real well in this rifle. The best of any other bullets.Or maybe it was a lucky day

Hot CoreHey six bits, It is "currently" the most accurate powder in my 223Rem with 45gr and 50gr bullets. It has managed to beat out two long time favorites - H4895 and H322. I agree that it seems to be relatively clean burning as well.
No idea at all how it will do in a 17cal, but best of luck to you.
