Re: 270 Win. 110 gr bullets
I have some 90gr bullets loaded to 3400fps but I would never use them on deer they're for ground hogs.

I actually think anyone can do it who is willing to put in the practice required. I used to burn surplus ammo in cheap military rifles by the hundered-weight to keep in practice (I was too poor to reload that much) but practice is practice and you cannot help but get good if you shoot that much. My favorite was an old P-14 that shot like a house afire. I still have about 300 lbs of some old 1917 303 Brit stuff from the original lot I bought with the gun. Sure wish I'd kept the rifle too.

tiggertate, Good for you. You must have done some presice
shooting. I am able to do that also, I guess not everyone can.

Jro45,
Last year I used the Sierra 110 soft point on 2 deer. I was getting bored shooting deer with the 140gr Sierra spbt. My father in law has been using the 110s for a couple of years and is happy. I called Sierra and the tech said they are intended for deer. The first deer was a average doe at 120 yards. One shot kill, bang flop, normal for .270. Shot was behind shoulder, much less blood shot than "normal" .270 loads. 2nd deer is a bad example. Last day of the hunt the buck was running away from me. First shot was 75? yards, took out hind leg. Second shot was just left of the bulls eye. Again meat lost was "normal" for the .270 no bullet was recovered, exited front of ham.
Would I use them again sure. But won't because a heivier bullet is better for long range.
