canam1st range session with ruger 264 win mag
Finally took the stainless hawkeye 264 win mag to the range. This is one cartridge I have not played with. Was shooting 125gr noslers and horn 140gr sst bullets, tried RL22,IMR 7828 and H50bmg powder. The first 140gr loads were over the chrony at 2900fps-2990fps,and 125gr noslers @3130fps.This rifle only has a 24" tube but really hoping for 3200fps with 140's and 3300 fps with 125gr-130gr bullets. Most groups were slightly under 1".Anyone know how tempature sensitive the H50BMg powder is?I need a flat shooting load for a november sask deer hunt.

larrysHow far are you going to be shooting? At 3000 fps and 2.5" high site in at 100 yards, the 125 partition will only be 12-14" low at 400 yards. That is still aiming on hair at 400 and dead on at about 250.

TJAYI get 3300+ with H1000 and 125 gr. Nosler. I also get 3100 with IMR7828 and the 140 gr Nosler in a Winchester M70 with a 24 inch barrel. I am now working with 130 gr TSX. Looking good with Reloader 25 and Mag Pro. I haven't had a chance to chrono these yet.

BohicaDear Canam,
My all-around favorite load for the 254 Win with the beautiful Sierra Gameking 140s has been H-870 @ 75.0. However I have had velocity success with Thunderbird T-5070 [3350],
Win WMR [3200]
H-4831 [3100]
Benchmark[ 3300]
This is with a 23.0 Barrel. I am not including the GRS but you can find the loads in the books.Aloha, Mark

BohicaForgot to add!
All of these powder gave acceptable accuracy. Not as good as the old H-870 but still in the 1" +- area. The Benchmark was the best with 5/8" three shot groups as this is all I want /expect out of a F.W. barrel.
Aloha, Mark
