B17GRe: Savage 12 FV in 204
I just saw an article in one of the Gun Rags, I only read them at the store anymore, and only the articles I am interested in.
However there was a report on the Savage 40 and it looked like Savage is adding the 204 to that rifle's chamberings.
It looks a great varmint rig at an attractive price.
May want to check that one out if you can live without a synthetic stock, which I can easily do.
Cheers

TarletonRangerSmoker....sure you don't wanna hold out on the FV? I just picked on up in April in 22-250, and it is THE most accurate rifle I own, and out of the box!!!!! This is beating out remingtons and winchesters.
The action is gritty, but the action never did the killing, and the accu-trigger is a dream come true.

montdougI haven't shot these Savages, however I do own several and they do shoot well (butt ugly but they shoot).
A different option that I might mention is the CZ in their Varmint model, saw one at the gun store the other day and if it shoots like my other CZ's it'll be a dandy, very accurate rifles. I love their single set trigger. At the store I saw it it was $499.00, how's that compare to the Savage?. I'm thinkin if you ever decided to sell it the CZ would hold it's value better. Just a thought.

SmokerTarletonRanger,Montdoug,Seafire, up until a couple of years ago I couldn't be budged from 700 or a mod. 70. I picked up a 12bvss in .223 as a add-on gun for a dog hunt and have since added two additional Varmint guns. I was stunned at the accuracy right out of the box. I do not own an accu-trigger but am told they are the cat's meow. I do agree with you Jake on the action smoothness...they ain't no Krag.
Moundoug, price difference is ~ 100.00, and yep, some of those Savages are BUTT ugly. I have time as I have to sell a couple of Deer rifles first. Thanks to all, Phil
