Howa Talon

For the Price, you can do better. The Howa is a great rifle, but that thing defines butt ugly.
I bought a 1962 Husqvarna 1900 Small ring '98 in 6.5x55 a few years ago. $395.00. Topped it w/ Warne- Weaver bases and rings and a Pentax Game seeker 4x32 BP scope. Weighs 6.5lb loaded. It is set up for 100...300 yards. Great rifle. I was amazed that the Ballistic Plex actually was at 50 yard increments w/ 6.5x55.

Jpat, you cut me deep!!!!!! I love the way Howa Talons look!!! But I do like black guns. Not saying that a wood stock is ugly just not my 1st choice. I know I will be criticized for saying that but it's okay. We all have our preferences.

You know when I said that I value the opinion of some of you old guys... you were not one of the old guys that I was talking about!!!!! I normally keep PM's confidential, but this was unusual. Maybe some folks here have me on ignore. Like Limbaugh, I consider myself to be a harmless little fuzzball. This is the first time in almost 10 years I've ever got a PM telling me I'm on ignore. Maybe I should consider that I have arrived!

My comments on this thread could be considered acerbic I guess. Don't feel special, I post numerous comments. Most are positive. Typically, I operate under the rule that friends come and go, but enemies accumulate. My intention was not to make an enemy. Evidently I have. If it will make you feel better, I will agree not to comment on any of your posts.

However this is a public forum that I've frequented for many years, as do others. When you ask opinions, some times you may not like the ones you get. I'd say grow a pair.

Wow, that is terrible. You are one of the most polite and knowledgeable people on this forum. Many of us here respect your opinion.
