Any load advice for the 50 to 55 grain weights?

I don't know if you can find any of this powder any more, but I shot one-hole groups with 10 grains of AA2200 out of my K-Hornet, pushing a Winchester 55-grain PSP and using a pistol primer.
I know this is gone from the commercial powder manufacturers, but you might try something like 2230C. From what I have been told, it is very close to the old 2200.
And everything I read about AA1680 is it is THE best powder for the Hornet, period.

Many of these bullets, depending upon their length, of course, are not very accurate in the Hornet's 1-16 twist barrel.....I have had best luck with the 45 grain Nosler solid base bullet in my Hornets......

I was never able to stabilize anything over 50 grains in any of my Hornets.
My best powder was WW680 which was discontinued sometime back. AA1680 is said to be the same formulation but it never shot the same in my loads.
Lil Gun is the best thing I have found. I use a case full and CCI small rifle primers. Sierra Blitz 40 grainers.

I have found 50gr Speer (1029) loaded with 12gr lil'gun and CCI Small rifle primers, OAL 1.856" are stable in my 1:16 twist and sub MOA. They have to be loaded singly of course. Sierra 52gr keyhole, but 50gr SMP (1320) with 13gr lil'gun /CCI small rifle primers OAL 1.845" are sub MOA. Speer were loaded with Winchester cases and the Sierra with Remington.

The Sierra 50gr chronoed at 3096 fps ie 1064 ftlb -no pressure signs!

I've had good success in my TC Contender carbine K-Hornet with the Speer 50gr TNT. No stabilization problems at all. I'll have to check the exact load when I get home, but I had no problem getting around 2700 fps or so, if memory serves, and accuracy hovered at 1 to 1 1/4 inches at 100yds. I haven't been able to get a coyote to run in front of one yet, but it blows big holes in jackrabbits.
Lil Gun works well with the lighter bullets, but I really like AA1680 almost as well, if not better. Velocities aren't quite as high, but it seems that loads are a little more consistent.

Maybe that's why the Ruger and Savage .22 Hornets have 1-14" twists. I use Nosler 50 & 55 gr. Ballistic Tips in my .22 Hornets using Lil'Gun powder. Favorite calling load for Coyotes is 13.0 gr. of Lil'Gun behind a 50 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip. Another good powder to check out is H110. Lawdog

For my Ruger M77 Hornet, I use 11.5gr Lilgun under a 50gr Hornaday softpoint. This load goes about 2650fps and is sub-MOA. I can use a Sierra 52gr HPBTM and it shoots the same. I only use small pistol primers.

With fall turkey around the corner, I use a 55gr FMJ with the same powder charge, shoots great.

You may want to try an expanding bullet....At Hornet velocities they do not destroy much meat...Turkeys can be tough to anchor with FMJs....

Just my 2 cents worth. I have a NEF in .22 hornet that shoots 40-55gr bullets very good using lil'gun. It shoots the 50, 52 and 55gr bullets the best. I love it for the money

BTW, my NEF has a 1:12 twist.
