Help: Savage Model Identification
Bought an inexpensive Savage bolt action .32-20 with detachable magazine. It has markings on the barrel that indicate patent dates (early 20th century) but no model identification only "Sporter". No "Sporters in my Blue Book though. Any ideas? I can post a picture but I'm guessing Savage made a whole bunch of these 'shooters" over the years and the experience of this forum would know the model offhand.

Does the barrel screw into the reciever or is it all one piece? if its all one piece its probably a model 23. they were made in 22lr, 22 hornet, 25-20, and 32-20. designated with the suffix A, B, C, D to identify the different callibers.
