Changing brand of brass for 257Roberts
I've been using my recoverd hornady/frontier factory load brass, but need to get a bigger supply. Looking at Winchester P+.

Anything I should look out for as far as working up loads or getting into too much pressure? I will back off a grain or two and work back up to the loads I was shooting (hopefully) as a plan for now.

It's a shame too as I had a decent load with Hornady 117grn spbt, 47grn ReL 19, right around 2900fps.

I need more to work with than the 60+ cases I had saved from factory brass.

Hornady/frontier IS Winchester brass.

with the win=p you use the same standard load and the decreased case capacity makes it +p for you.
i use the +p for my wifes 7 mauser and rem in mine and i have to use 1.1 more grains in mine to get the same velocity.
with win regular brass in my girls x57 i use the same load as mine but hers gives 25 fps less.
they both [wifes and girls] have the same bbl length [mine is 1" longer] and tight throats.
and i can actually swap rounds between them even with only neck sizing.
but the groups show the difference.

Weight five of the WW +P brass and five WW "non" +P brass to get an average. I suspect that you'll find them to be identical except for the headstamp.

I haven't done much load developement in the last ten years for the 257, but when I did, I didn't see any difference in loads when I used different brass (that was Remington, Winchester and Federal), except when I made cases from 30/06 Lake City military cases. Loads for that stuff were much different. I haven't seen any need to change loads for reloaded Hornady or Winchester +P cases either IN MY RIFLE. Might be different for you.
