Hi Blair,
Who did you get to build a 257 rum in Australia?
I was wondering who has the reamer?
What length barrel do you have?
What twist did you use?
What velocity can you get with 85 gns 100 gns etc?
Do you just neck 7mm rum brass down for the 257 rum ?
Thanks for your reply.
Regards.

short barrel life? Maybe, but the fun factor is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay up there. I had a guy tell me my 257 Banshee (6.5x68S necked down to 257 and blown out) would only get half the barrel life of his 25-06. I sez "twenty trips up the high country shooting Rockchucks and $400 for a new barrel VS twenty awesome trips using $40 worth of gas per. If I wanted efficiency I'd sell the Dodge Diesel and buy a Yugo...and take up archery so I could shoot the same arrow a thousand times...".

hjl,

Robert Tobler has the reamer and did the work.
27 inch.

Don't know what the velocity was as my Oehler 35 up and died on me.

Just a neck down, though I have 6.5RUM dies and you could take that extra step...............

Blair,
Thank you for the reply.
Good to hear there is a 257 rum reamer in Australia. What brand of reloading dies did you get ? How much are they?
I have a 7mm STW that I will rebarrel 'one day'.
The 257 rum sounds like my kind of thing. I got my 7mm STW when it was still a wildcat.
It's a pity your chrono died. I would love to know what it can do. What powder and bullets are you using? What accuracy are you getting with this combo?
Thank you for your help.
Regards.

It shot well with RE 25 and the 85 grain BT's.

With 115's I used 2225, some old H870 and 2218.

RCBS dies.

If you or Wyo Elk would like a set of RCBS 257 STW dies, PM me, with your address and I'll send them to you...........

If any cartridges are still "over bore capacity", even with today's very slow powders, this has to be one of them. I suppose if one has one, however, loading data is needed.
