257 Roberts brass availability ??
Howdy.

Was greatly disappointed to check Midway and find that .257 Roberts brass in Remington headstamp is "DISCONTINUED!!"

I like to use only one brand of brass for each caliber and have some 600 .257 brass in Remington brand either loaded or in storage. In a caliber like this, I really like to keep 1,000 rounds of brass in hand.

I ended up buying Winchester in 50 round bags as that was all Midway had. It is not cheap in this quantity.

Yeah, I know I could neck down 7mm but....... I want Remington factory stuff.

Anyone else know of a source for Remington?

Many thanks in advance.

"Bo"

Try cabelas or hunningtons.
You may be aware of this already but Wichester
Brass for the Roberts is stamped +P. Its a little thicker and stronger.
You will have slightly less case capacity.
I don't know how hot you load but if you like to push the envelope You might back off for a few loadings. I prefer the Winchester brass.
I am suprised to hear of remington discontinuing. Perhaps its just midway taking that step.

Grafs.com has 257 Roberts Remington brass in stock and in bulk discount. You might want to check it out. Good Luck and BE Safe!

Thanks TJ and CC:

Since 257 brass is not something that will go out the door by the thousands, I know Cabelas will not have them. However, I will try Grafs and Hunningtons.

I ended up ordering 200 of the Winchester Plus P from Midway but am not happy doing so. While I am certain that Winchester is great brass, I still want to keep mine "all of one kind" if possible.

Many thanks and have a great week. "Bo"

THANKS and boy, was I ever wrong about Cabelas!! I ended up ordering some 500 brass from Mid South this morning as they had them at a decent price.

No problem Bo, looking out for people is when I'm at my best.
I'm collecting Winchester .257 Roberts brass and am also sticking with just one brand, I picked WW because I couldn't tell any reasonable differences for my uses between Rem and WW and I'm already using WW for several other cartridges.
Good luck with your .257 Bob!

I have a sale book from Natchez shooters supply and it lists 257R remington brass on sale. I don't know if they have any as I could not find it on thier website.

Snell and Herr..........

Thanks again. Ha, I ended up ordering WW brass from Midway, Rem. Brass from Mid South, and Rem brass from Cabelas as well. I should have a life time supply for my old # 1 Ruger.

Did not realize that Natchez had them too and many thanks for sharing.

In recent years, I have fallen "in love" with nearly obsolete cartridges: .22 Hornet, .221 Fireball, .222 Rem, .257 Robts, and .35 Remington. Guess I am just old fashioned. Wink

Y'all have a very Merry Christmas !!

If you do not want to neck down 7mm, you can neck up 6mm Remington cases.

BO !
A #1 in .257 Robert ? Take care of that one brother. That is a cool combination and not teribly comon either.
I think if you look around the different reloading pages on this and other sights , you might agree that the Roberts apears to be on the comback trail.
