Hi,
I just got a CZ 527 .223.
Quiet happy with it so far.
One thing that i found was that when closing the bolt on a round, it feels a bit stiff.
Is this normal with CZs?
Will it get better with time?
It shoots great and has a wonderfull set triger .

Are you loading from the magazine, or dropping a single round into the chamber? If the former, the Mauser-style extractor has to climb over the case rim, which will increase the bolt movement effort.

No, im feeding from the magazine.

some ammo chambers a little different for me, in my case the black hills remans have a little more bolt resistance, prolly slightly bigger and the CZ has a tight chamber, winchester white box chambers easier

So far i have used Remington FMJ ans Sako SP.
Both were the same, slightly tight when chambering a round.
So you dont think i have nothing to worry about?
As iv said, it shoots fine apart from that.

mik...i have a 527 american in 223 that's the most accurate gun i've ever owned. that's including the 2 custom guns i own. i'm not much on shooting paper but with this gun i once shot 6 consecutive 3 shot groups under 1/2 inch.

the stiff loading out of the mag seems to be a common problem. i took my mag apart and smoothed the lips with a fine knife sharpening "stick". that helped as does just using it a lot. and that set trigger is pretty cool.

i'm not an expert on this but it sounds like the you're just bumping the shoulder of the ammo up against the front of the chamber. if you're not getting any pressure signs i don't think it's a problem. the ammo just fits tight between the bolt face and the front of the chamber. again...i'm not an expert, but from what you've described, that's what it sounds like to me

NO! It could mean only that you have a tight chamber with minimum headspace. As Martha would say, "it's a good thing"! This condition will contribute to accuracy.

I was just worried a bit, prehaps im a perfectionist, but i was just being carefull.
as i said, it shoots GREAT and looks fantastic.
P.S When i tryd to chamber an empty case, the bolt would not close at all.

That confirms the diagnosis. When you are reloading you should be able to crank your sizing die all the way down. Your brass will likely last a long time since its size doesn't change a lot during the firing/sizing/loading cycle.

Mik: I think the only thing you have left to do is enjoy your rifle. I own a CZ 527 originally in the Lux Model. I couldn't get an American model at the time and I disliked the Euro stock with the humpback. I ended up buying an aftermarket Fancy Grade American Walnut stock from CZ for it, did some minor inletting for the rear sight band on the barrel which the CZ 527 American does not have and began shooting. It was accurate as heck with the Lux stock, but showed even more promise with the new stock. A gunsmith bud of mine pillar bedded the thing and now, it is unbelievable. Just for grins I am trying different powders and bullet selections and seating depths now as poosed to when it was in the other stock, but this thing is totally amazing. I have an el-cheapo scope, a Simmons 6.5x20x50 Whitetail Classic ($99 from SWFA) on it. To be honest, it looks like a television set mounted up on the rifle, but boy, does that outfit shoot. It is a true sub-half minute of angle shooting rifle time in and time out. When I was living in Grants, New Mexico, P-dogs trembled at the mere mention of my name , but honestly, those CZs are truely amazing. Have fun with your rifle. Tom Purdom

Great rifle. Mine is snug on the load as well, but all I have shot are Lake City brass. Makes the groundhogs sit up and take notice with those 53 grain Hornady hollowpoints.
