Maybe this has been asked before and if so don't hang me. Where do you get the cases or ammo and what guns can these be fired in. I guess I would be looking at a single shot.

The 5.7X28mm is a restricted round, as it has AP rounds that can be used in a pistol. A neat little round though. I beleive that the bullet dia. is .221" It is mainly used in the FN P-90 machine pistol/SMG. If you have seen "Stargate SG-1" it has a supporting role on the show. The pistol by FN is just another Euro auto.

The 5.7 x 28mm was restricted, and some specs still are. But there is at least on spec that is for sale. The 5.7 is a .224 bullet, so bullets are not a problem. If you reload, I would look at .224 Hornet bullets as they are made for lower velocities. Don't know where you would find dies for it right now. Ammo can be purchased over the internet at impact arms, a quick search would give the internet address. They have brass from time to time also. The only guns available right now are the FN pistol and soon to be released civilian verson of the P90 carbine.

If the 4.6 x 30mm is the HK round, good luck with it. It is a oddball 18 cal. Don't know where you would find bullets.

Either round should be fun for plinking. The most useful application of either cartiridge would be the 5.7 necked down to 17 cal and used in a single shot.

Yes I thought it would make a light plinking roung that you could neck down to any of the sub calibers in a single shot. Thanks for the info

According to the 10th ed. Cartridges of the World chapter 7 table of diamentions. The bullet dia. of the 5.7 x 28 mm FN is .220"

I miked a T194 training bullet from my collection it measured .221"

What single shot would you build a wildcat .17"x28mm on ? I know of no bolt action centerfire that would take the .303 dia. rimless base of this round. Granted, this would make a very neat looking extra small centerfire round. The 17-20gr Hornady V-max should be able to get up to 3000fps. Maybe?

Well first of all I would probably have to go with a single shoot but I have not figured that part out yet. I would probably go for the .177 in a 30mm case. It would just be fun to do.

Go to www.saubier.com and search their message boards, or ask about the 5.7x28mm. There is at least one guy there who shoots a 5.7x28 necked down to .17 cal, and a couple of others who shoot the 5.7x28 unmodified or shortened.
