bullitt94243WIN options?
I am looking options for a semi-auto hunting rifle in 243WIN with a regular type of clip. For now i am not interested in the BAR because of the hinged door for the clip or Remington products because of the bad taste left in my mouth from my 742 when it wore it self out and could not be repaired.I am not interested in military looking rifles either.Would it be possible to take something like a VEPR Super or Hunter and have it rebarreled to 243win.Does anybody have any other idea's?Thanks in advance.

Savage99Ask them if they will chamber this
autoloader in 243.

bullitt94I asked them a little over a year ago and they said at that time they had no plans to do so.

Savage99The barrels are interchangeable. Get a 308 now and load the 125 gr for hunting. When the 243 comes out get that barrel too.

308SakoMy Bride shoots an H&K 770 (.308Win) and I think it was also available in .243.

bullitt94Since my last post i found an article saying the 770 probably wasn't made in 243win.

308SakoSorry Bullit, I wasn't sure about that, and I got that rifle for the bride because of the low recoil factor. She loves it and it has more than paid it's way in tasty venison.

tiggertateDid the Winchester 100 ever come in 243? If not how hard would it be to rebarrel a 308?

Cal SibleyI've seen the old Winchester model 100 at several gun shows over the years. It was made in .243Win. and a pretty good one at that. Leave your name with a few vendors at the shows and they can likely find one. Other than that Remington and Browning were the only U.S. producers I know of. Best wishes.
