I am sure this has been covered before, but i wanted to know what people like. My first gun was a 22lr single shot. A stevens that I don't have any more. It was used by my granddad for harvesting hogs for eating not wild by the way those homegrown kind. But now I have a tricked out ruger 10/22 with a Houge stock and a .920 bull brl. Trigger job has it pulling about two pounds. 4x12x40 bussnell scope. Shoots little groups too. I love to punch holes in paper and hunt my small game with it to. For hunting I use remington shells, they shoot good in my gun. for target I use wolf subsonic to punch little holes in paper. I can't count the number of small critters that have died to the power of a 22lr bullet in the hands of all the kids in my family while i was growing up. LLB

RMillerI have a remington nylon 66. I have had it for 20 years.
I like to use cci stingers for hunting rabbits, grouse. I plink with whatever cheap ammo I can find.

. The both seem to prefer Winchester target. But at the moment I am using a lot of the Wolf Match Extra and the Wolf Match Target, in various rifles and hand guns.
BTW, any of you using this, it has went up about $5 a brick around here.

rooksd1jsh, I have been shooting Wolf Match Target in a built up 10/22. the Wolf Match shoots better in this gun than anything else I have tried. Only bought 1 brick last Spring, I have not checked the price recently. I like it well enough I will pay a little more.

Pecos41Marlin "Golden Mounty Carbine" and a Ruger 7722. The Marlin shoots circles around the Ruger 7 days a week.

EdAn old bolt action, tube feed Remington Model 34 NRA. It came from the factory with a Lyman receiver sight, a fine trigger, pretty walnut stock and it just flat shoots. I can't begin to think of the number of critters that have fallen to this rifle... For a handgun it is a toss up between an S&W's Model 41 or 63 Kit Gun.

Dr. LouMy first 22 was a Model 77 Winchester (clip). I still have it and had many others throughout the years. I currently use a Sako Finnfire Hunter and a Kimber Classic Varmint. Two hours ago I used the Kimber to smoke a Bobcat and woodpecker.

NebraskaMy favorite 22lr would have to be my SS Ruger Mark II 5 1/2" bull. It's very fun to shoot and so accurate that it even makes
me look like a decent shot with a pistol (which is much appreciated
).
Next would be my SS Ruger 10/22. It's kind of a "must have" to me. With the Ruger Mark II pistol, I really don't need another 22lr but I'd feel strange not having the 10/22 since I spent so many hours shooting one when I was younger.
As far as ammo goes, I really like the Remington Golden Bullet HP for all purposes.

Andre! Look at you with your LOW-mounted scope! I didn't think that you Europeans had it in you! Now, if that Anschutz just had a little less drop in the stock . . . Just kidding, but as you can see, I do like a scope mounted low enough that the shooter gets a good cheek "weld" on the stock. Your rifle/scope is very reminiscent of my Sako P72 with a 3-9 Leupold Compact EFR mounted on it. The adjustable objective clears the barrel by about the thickness of a piece of typing paper . . . sweet!
My .22 preferances:
For "serious" small game hunting, a stock Ruger 10/22 (ponderous trigger and all) mounted with a Leupold 2-7 RF special.
For impressing friends, a Browning BAR-22 with a Leupold 4x RF special.
For bench and little varmints, a Sako P72 with a Leupold 3-9 Compact EFR.
For nostalgia, my grandfather's Remington Model 24 (Browning patent) made in 1929. For more recent nostalgia, my father-in-law's Belgian Browning .22 Auto on the same pattern.
For pride of fatherhood, my son's Browning BLR-22 which I gave him when he was eight years old.
For informal small game and plinking with a handgun, an old Colt Huntsman semi-auto.
And for kicking myself in the pants for ever selling it, my first .22 was a Marlin Model 57 "Levermatic" which was as accurate as anything I ever owned.
I started out 40 years ago thinking a .22 Rimfire was the only rifle there was, and give me another couple of decades and I may go out that way, too!

HornetfanI have two 20 + year old Glenfield 25's. One was neglected bad, (Found in a damp attick) just redone for my son. Both are real shooter with Remington Yellow jackets. Both need to be really fouled to shoot well.
My rimfire for serious work is a supertuned 77/22mag with a Lothar Walther Barrel from Clark.

Rich AndersonMy first 22 was a Remington 572 pump. When it was time for my little brother to get his first 22 he got the same thing. He had to leave early now I have both of them and hopefully will pass them to my nephews. My go to 22 is a Kimber Super America with a Leupold 2x7RF scope. I like the gun but the Squirrels don't!

Pete in IdahoI have two 22rfs. One, a M69 Win. with an old steel tube Weaver K4. The other is a Win. M61, it has a Lyman All American 4X.
I live in the country and keep a 22rf & a 17Rem in my shop. The other 22 and a 223 Mini Mauser live outside the gun safe for critters. Even though I can and do shoot CFs around the house the 22s with CBs get alot of work.
Critters that fall to the 22s are: starlings, magpie, wild house cats, and skunks. ON coyotes and badgers I reach for a cf. Pete

Andre MertensStone creek, the photo is taken at an angle and the scope's objective actually clears the bbl. by .05". Even the protective caps slide under it.

JAYBI had two BSA sporters for many years and was very pleased with the old beasties. A couple of years back I got a CZ 452 Classic and could not be more delighted. I have a RWS 3-9X40 scope on it, a Parker Hale moderator and shoot Eley sub sonics, it is very accurate and produces .3 to .4 groups @ 50 yards all day long. The only thing preventing geater accuracy is me!

TEXASMY FIRST 22RF WAS A WINNY MODEL 121 SINGLE SHOT THAT I STILL HAVE. MY 22RF OF CHOICE IS AN OLD MARLIN GOLDEN 39A. THE ONLY THING THE OLD GUN SHOOTS WORTH A DARN IS THE CCI STINGERS, AND IT WILL PUT FIVE SHOTS IN A DIME AT 50 YRDS. THE GUN IS KIND OF LIKE A LEGEND AMONG MY FRIENDS DUE TO ITS ACCURACY, SEEING THAT THEY ALL SHOOT NEWER MODEL RUGER 1022S THAT DONT GROUP NEAR AS WELL.
