tincanI recall seeing new M1's for sale a few years back chambered in 5.7. The guns were manufactured by "Israeli Arms" and were marketed from a company in Texas. I googled a little and couldn't get a good hit. They had ammo for sale, I *think*.

DigitalDanI find no reference to this cartridge, but a rose by another name... Brass can be formed from M1 Carbine brass with a form die, probably one pass, maybe a neck ream after the fact though that is not indicated by Dr. Howell's book.
It's called the .22 Spitfire there.

covey16I have a Universal .30 carbine in stainless .(great boat gun)
When i bought it about 30 years ago,they advertised a 5.7 spitfire.
I think Universal was the first with a commercial 5.7.
I don't know if they are still in business, but they were located in Florida.
Dan
I heard one time Universal was a front for arms mfg for Cuban dissidents?????
Anyway,it's another thread to pull in your search for ammo.
good luck
