S&W i-Bolt rifles, any good?
(I posted this in the American Big Game forum also)

Does anybody have any personal experience with the S&W i-bolt rifles?

One of the local sporting goods dealers has the black/black i-Bolts for $250
after the sale price and rebate.

One of my hunting partners is thinking of the 25-'06 for varmints, deer and antelope.
I told him for $250 it is hard to find a good USED gun, let alone a NEW one. I read
an article on these a while back, and if I remember correctly, they performed quite well
for the money.

Any thoughts?

Flippy, my only experience with them is that I don't want anymore in my store! I got one last year when they came out for the store and it may as well have had a sign on it reading "AIDS! Don't touch!" Couldn't give it away literally! We had a raffle back in May for a "Gun A Day For The Month Of May" and I put it in the giveaway guns. The guy who won it didn't even want it!! We gave it away again later and that guy took it. As far as performance, I have no idea how good they are but for $250.00 I probably would say it would have to be a real dog not to be worth that. At least your friend wants one in GODS CHOSEN CALIBER.........25-06!! GHD

One of the shooting magazines has a review of the ibolt this month. That may boost sales. The stock pictured is a fancy camo stock. They show the list price as over $600. If yours is black, perhaps it is an early model. Bolt removal is different.
