DutchThat is very sad to hear. He was one of the gentlemen on the board that I most enjoyed conversing with.
Please express my heartfelt condolances to his family. I'll remember him, and dedicate some tight WSSM groups to his memory. Dutch.

MuleriderMy wife or family could bury me several times over by peddling off my collection of firearms.
Sad but true...
I offer my condolences to his family, but...
Gary claimed a wide variety of firearms, many of collector value. A better resource than asking for donations over the Internet?

Bobby TomekMy condolences to his family as well.
Mulerider-You bring up a very good point. While both my wife and I have policies, I have told both her and out oldest that if things get tight after I am gone, move some of the guns before digging into anything else. I've put together a log of the guns, scopes, etc. along with their values (amount paid, replacement cost and actual market value)and keep the list in the safe. That same list would also come in handy in case anything ever happened and homeowner's insurance had to kick in.
Today, dividends/interest rates are so low that it makes much more sense to invest in guns or something similar. It may take a little time to liquidate, but at least you know the value isn't likely to take a major nosedive overnight.
I used this very technique recently. I haven't worked much lately (not good when you're self-employed) due to health problems. So last month, I listed a few guns & other items here on AR, and they sold very quickly (THANKS for the great and FREE classifieds, Saeed!).

AggieDogI am truely sorry to hear this, Gary and I had alot in common, with oilfield experience in the Geysers in northern CA. I am depressed. This is truely sad news..............Looks like some of us other weatherby cartridge fans will have to pick it up where Gary left off. Lawdog Gary was a class act. My first 240 wby mag load was one of his that he rec'd to me.

DB BillPerhaps someone that knows them could help the family organize the sale of some of his guns. I am, however, suprised to hear about financial problems as he talked about hunting in Alaska.

tom hollandYou guys need to go over to greybeards site and read the latest on Gary. The funeral cost are $2900,casket $3000 extra cost since he was so tall, plot $2900 wife, daughter and son have had him creamated to save money at least thats the latest word. One of the last posters on Greybeards site,Medium Bore Rifles Forum say something ain't right! One member gave $100 by credit card to the funeral home daughter said no money has been given. Sad end, and I'm sure more will come to light in the future.
