I'm just curious I guess, but what does the A.O. stand for? I can't seem to find the guy's first name.

hillbillybearOne source I saw stated his name as Adolph O. Niedner, gunsmith. An article that you can find on the z-hat website also cites him as Adolph O. Niedner.
Its a very interesting piece on the .400 Whelen, headspace and the .411 Hawk.
