scottfromdallas6.8 SPC. Who hunts with it?
I'm picking up a Mini 14 in 6.8 SPC now that they are discontinued. I decided to get one before they disappear from inventory. Plan to use it as a general truck gun for my place in East Texas. Just wanted to see if anyone wanted to share their hunting experiences with the round. I plan on using the 120 SST. I know the 6.8 SPC is technically 270 caliber but I think it's better discussed in the small bore forum due to it's useable bullet weights and limited powder capacity.

plainsman456While working up some loads for a friend's rifles in the 6.8 I had the chance to try it out on a coyote. He was about 150+- yards away and it wacked him pretty hard.
Of the factory loads,Hornaday's shot tighter groups than the Remington's did.
For his nephews to go after we loaded some 110-130 and they have been thumping hogs with no problems. It should be no problem to do a number on deer.

theback40In the canadian forum a fellow and his dad both shot nice muskox bulls with a 6.8 in a ruger. you might ask what else he has used it on.

perryI use the 110gr TSX loaded by Silver State Armory and have had very good performance on medium sized game.

f224The 110gr V-max bullets are deer and hog killing machines, no more than ten steps from any of them so far. The Mini-14 in 6.8 can be made into a sub 1moa shooter and would be a great choice for a Texas truck gun.

30378Love my 6.8SPC for deer and hogs. Works great with Hornady 110gr HPBTs. Do not use junk magazines!
