gaetacorelliRemington 40x vs Anschutz 1740E
Dear friends,
I write to you from Roma,Italy, to know what 222Rem.cal rifle is best, according you, for 200 yds-bench-rest shooting ,among a 40 xb-br-ks Remington and an 1740E heavy-barrel, single loader Anschutz with 54 action. Please note the 40x in Italy costs the equivalent of your $ 3350 and the Anschutz $ 1430. [Here the 40x are very difficult to find used] . Is this big money-difference also in accuracy and quality ?
Also, is the to-day 40x production quality and accuracy valid like the early models ? Thanks in advance and ciao.

JohnTheGreekI own a 40XC course rifle in 7.62 NATO and have to say that it's the most accurate rifle I've ever owned. Now, is it worth the 2.5x the Anschutz price? Nope.

John

gaetacorelliCiao John JMHO,
thank you for quick reply. Even if I would explect more infos from USA, where the 40x is common.
Regards.

Gaetano,
I agree 100% with JTG, I've never owned a Remington 40X but have shot them. They are a First-Class piece of shooting equipment and manufactered as accurately today as ever in my opinion.
Having said that, Remington's (and other rifle manufacturers as well) current global network of local service providers leave alot to be desired in my opinion, so if your potential 40X ever requires accessories/repair/service - well, I hope their Italian partners are more accomodating than the German......
I'd opt for the Anschutz and have fun shooting it.

gaetacorelliCiao Gerry,
after further infos I knew the price of a Remington 40 xb.br.ks is $ 3650 = 2900 €ur and it takes 6 month after having ordered it. So Anschutz 1740E is more actrattive... Besides there is the Weihrauch M66 match that is very similar to the 1740E and costs only $ 1130 = 900 €ur.
Regards to all.
