7mm Rem Mag necked to 6mm
This would seem to be a simple cartridge to produce and I have a bunch of currently useless (to me), 7mag brass. I am thinking about a 700 action and a 28in. stainless Shilen barrel. Worthwhile, or is an '06 case about all a 6mm can utilize?

Many think the 6.5winmag is a bbl. burner. I can only imagine that the 6mm would go through a bbl. in something less than 1500rounds. Jusr trade the 7remmag brass for something else.

That would be a 6mm Mach IV.

Read an article on it a few years back.

The author mentioned it is a high maintenance round.

The only bullets that hold together on impact are barnes X bullets.

But it is very fast.

He figured that the barrel would go 1000 rounds.

But this is a dragster not a commuter.

Have a look at the 240 Hawk, I think it'll fill your niche!

In case you missed the "Mach IV"-Namepart, the 6mm Mach IV was introduced in the of Guns & Ammo November 1993 Issue. Ross Seyfried described his Creation as a 7mm Remington Magnum 40-degree Improved, Case necked to 6mm, maintaining the original Necklength to easy form. Clymer produced Reamers. Gunsmiths all over the Country began to turn out screaming 6mm Rifles.
