Could one turn the belt and rim on a .338 Win. Mag. case down to around .519ish", neck it down to 9.3, and get a miniature .416 Rigby?

Basically tou are making a 6.5-06.
240 weatherby is a 6mm-06 To make 240 weatherby I simply swage a belt on 25-06 cases and run them through the 240 resizer.

In a nutshell; yes. But a lot more fun to build and work with than a 6.5-06. Reshape the shoulder and it's a 256 Newton. Used to have one of those. If you go by case capacity, there isn't much left to do in any caliber these days. Sooooo, we are down to doing something that is just different.

NO! Dang it. I bought 6 boxes of once fired Wbee brass, and the thread just faded away.

Time to make the decision. In May I will have my shop done, and all of my African mounts installed. Bison Rug on one side wall, and all the paint textured.
June 1st I am going to order a set of reamers, and we are going to get this show on the road!

You got til then to make a commitment. If I have to pay for this, so be it. BUT!, I ain't sharing unless you bring a bank bag full of hundreds to the dance.

popcornHell, I thought with all the fan fare this would have been done long ago. Question; why the belted case rather than .404, Ruger or Ultra? Confusedroger

Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

same reason as any other non-factory offering: it just looks cool and is equivalent to the 6.5-284 or 6.5-06 in a slick looking package.
