Huvius9X71mm Peterlongo Rimless?

MickinColoIf you don't have brass available. According to what I have on the cartridge, it's made from a 9.3 x 74mm Rimmed. You have to turn the rim and extractor groove to make a Peterlongo. Seems like a lot of work to me.
It has some were in the range of 81 grains H2O of total case volume.

HuviusYes, I suspect it will be some work...
The bullet will be something else too. I have read that it should be .350" rather than .355-.356" that other 9mm metrics go. Will see with a slug down the tube.
Was hoping that it could be made with 300WM or H&H brass. Maybe 8mm Rem Mag. Will take a lot of measuring and trial and error for sure.

MickinColoI have a drawing on this cartridge but there are so many confused dimensions on it, it's worthless.

HuviusMeasured some cases and the 9.3X74R is indeed the most logical parent case.
I have not needed to trim rims and cut new extractor grooves on any other cases so this will be an exercise quite enjoyable.
Much of my enjoyment in reloading is making cartridges out of other cases and this will be quite gratifying to get such a rare rifle up and running again.

The old Rigby 400/350 is a 9x70mm. Couldn´t that one have a extractor groove lathed(turned).
The 400/350 Rigby is the same case as the 9x70 Förster.

HuviusYes, that is the one.
Will get pictures and info up when it gets here.
I have both 400/350 and 9.3X74R brass but would prefer to save my 350 brass for my 350.
I can risk ruining some 9.3 brass for the project.

It is!! Did that when making 6.5 Carcano brass out of 30-40 brass 48 years ago. Great learning process.

MickinColoNice to see you post bartsche, I haven't seen you around for a while but this is the only website I go too and I only visit a few of the forums anyway.

Jgrabow6493Here's a drawing I found. I was looking at this rifle and decided to research the cartridge case before committing. I think a 9.3x66 case could be resized and used. It would have a 5mm shorter neck.

Idaho Sharpshooter9,3x74R brass is too plentiful and reasonably priced to not use them. That will make a correct dimension case.

HuviusSo, for some reason, the rifle has not shipped yet. Something about my FFL holder not sending it in or Salter not sending the request (which my FFL requires).
Nothing against the gun and I am sure it is quite a good buy, I just happen to have another opportunity on another gun.
I called and bowed out so this fine rifle will be again available to buy - just in case any of you fellas are interested.
