The .22-284 is about as overbore as you want to go. 55-60 grain bullets in this round go between 4,200 - 4,400 fps if you have sufficient barrel length. A .22 on a .460 Weatherby was done years ago but was highly inefficient. I definitely wouldn't recommend a .22 on a .300 Mag case.

I agree. I did up a 6.5 on a .300 Weatherby case (6.5 Wright/Hoyer) and it's brutal. The .22-300Win is even less favorable.

The 6.5-300Wby. MUST be cleaned every 20 to 22 shots, or a hard ring of carbon fouling will form at the throat and drive pressures up enough to stick the bolt a little. Extracting a live round, chambered after 18 or 20 shots, reveals scratches on the bullet from this fouling buildup. The very high velocities also encourage fast and heavy copper fouling, even in the carefully broken in Hart SS barrel. Cleaning always takes "awhile". Barrel life is also important to some, and this amount of overbore is not particularly conducive to longevity.
Forget using moly bullets, the powder fouling will begin to become detrimental before the moly builds up enough to stabilize the POI.
