This is an excellent thought.....but it's not my cup of tea. I'd far prefer to go up a caliber than use a VLD .22 bullet.

I've owned and shot a 77 Ruger 220 Swift, since 1973. I have worn out one barrel, and had Ruger replace that in 1995. Never had a feeding problem with this rifle, and of course I installed a Canjar trigger. I just shot the obligatory, once a year group, unless we are shooting gophers, after over 600 rounds, still less than a half inch. The Swift is just a bitchen cartridge, and has no reason for anyone to fault it. Of course the previous statement only applies to those who are experts, and have shot it quite a bit.
