.228 Ackely
Anyone have any experience with this round.I found a really neat little Schonauer(sp?) custom rifle chambered for this. The rifle is in really nice shape, and I'd like to leave it alone(caliber wise) unless the round is just to much of a pain to fool with.

Hornady still makes a .227 caliber bullet for use in .228 caliber rifles, so bullets shouldn't be too hard to find. Choice is nil, just a 70-gr SP, though.

Ross Seyfried (sp?) did an article a while back, I believe in rifle magazine on three Ackley rifles, and one of them was a 228. A search on their site, or someone with a better memory then me would probably help. - Dan

I think Don Lewis also wrote about that cartridge once or twice as well.

We have a few of the guys that shoot them around here. Thet all use .22 savage Hi power bullet. I never have heard any complaints except the odd diameter.
