ramrod340I have a little data for my own case. It is about a gr larger than the Gibbs. What bullet are you looking to shoot?
Here is some data from the Gibbs Articles
As usual just my $.02

bisonlandThanks, I was looking for a 180 gr. bullet load.
I'm not sure if it would be worth rechambering a
.30-06 with a 22" barrel? There should be an incremental velocity increase as its a bigger case, but the shorter barrel takes some of it away.

ramrod340You will give up 65-75fps from the loads listed. I have a 23" on my 280PDK (gibbs+1) it works fine. If you want a full wildcat then go ahead. the barrel will not have to be set back. I have more wildcats than factory but, if I was just looking for some gain. Load the 30-06 to 63-65,000 like the 270 and be done with it. You will pick up probaly half the Gibbs gain.
As usual just my $.02

DekeAgree with ramrod that if the 06 is a good one it is not really worth the rechamber. However, if you are definately looking at a rebarrel, why not?
Mine is also slightly diff from the std Gibbs (1gr less and 2gr less than ramrods). With 180's mine does very well (2950fps w/180XLC's) in a 24" barrel using RL22. H414 is also very good, but about 65fps slower.

waterratAfter shooting a bunch of animals with 180s and 165s I couldn't detect any difference in killing power. My load is 63gr IMR 4350 behind a 165 Horn spire pt flat base.
I tend to use more than enough gun

Norman ConquestI have a 30 Gibbs W/26" #7 contour bbl.on a 98 action.The load I've been using is 63.0G.IMR 4350 W/Sierra #2145 165G. for 3080MV.In my 300 H+H W/the same bullet it takes 68.0 G. of the same powder to equal that MV.If it's still in print Wolfe Publishing has a book on Gibbs cartridges.ISBN:0-935632-99-9.Good luck.
Never mistake motion for action.
