I'm looking for someone familiar with the 270ccc from Hollywood Gun Shop from the 40s. This is the same wildcat as the 270pmvf.

What information are you looking for?

You could look in Ackley's books, do a search on Google, and a search on the Forum. It seems the CCC PMVF cartridges were discussed here not too long ago.

My those are some ugly ducklings. Frowner

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

I'm hoping to find someone who has reloaded the 270ccc. I'm not sure about the process for forming the cartridge from the 270win. case.

I've never owned a CCC or a PMVF but several years ago a friend had one in 25 caliber and I helped him make some cases. His was based on the 06 case and we formed cases the same way you would for an Ackley Improved. Necked the case down until it was a crush fit and then a good stout 25-06 load.

For a 270 you may have to neck up and then back down.

My friend soon lost interest in the 25 since the ballistics were no better than a conventional 25-06 Improved.

Cheecako,
Thanks, yours confirms what I learned from a friend of my Brother in Law. He says fireform them from factory 270 ammo as long as there is 0 headspace. There is 0 headspace as it required a little force to close the bolt, it leaves a faint ring where the shoulder meets the neck, and it in fact reshapes the shoulder just a bit. So, I'm about ready to take it to the range, fire a few of the reload rounds that came with the rifle and try firing a factory 270. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
