Being the proud owner of two .257 Ackleys, all I can say is you don't know what you've been missing. And they kill Elk just fine.

I question the 25-35AI being faster than the 257 Roberts.

I recently found a few articles on the .257 Roberts AI and now I'm really glad that it was the final choice. Called Harts last week and its in the pipeline. Should probably have it by Sept when they come out to bowhunt. So I'll have enough time to work up some loads,etc.
Bought some 115 partitions cheap the other day so the gears are turning.......

Frank, I've owned a number of 25s up to 25-06 IMP and have experienced mixed results in killing ability. This was all do to bullets not doing what they were hyped to do. One deer was shot in the morning and we didn't find it for six hours, still alive terrible wound.I have never had any trouble with any of my 7x57s and the bullet selection is so far greater than the 25s. 250 yds. is a cake walk for a 7X57.
On the other hand a GOOD 120 gr. 25 cal. bullet at 3000 ft./sec. will do a number on a big mule deer if you do your part.

You'll love the 257 AI. I feed mine a strict diet of 115gr NBT and the Deer and the Antelope fall like lightening. Put some 85 gr NBT in and its a helluva a chuck rifle.

I have a 257RAI, so far I have only shot targets over the chrono, but already, it is my favorite gun.

The worst 5 shot group at 100m it evrer shot with any load was 1.4", and the best .46".
The highest velocity I have recorded is 3940fps with 75 gr., but not a useful load because of brass life. 3630 fps is very sustainable and accurate.
