Ramblin RogueBeginner needs help with which 280 AI Dies to purchase
As mentioned in other posts I am just getting into this hobby. I will be loading the 280 AI as a hunting cartridge. I have been researching equipment and I only lack purchasing dies and a scale. I am confused on dies.
Question #1: If I am fireforming my cases, do I need a FL Sizing die? Can I purchase the Lee collet neck sizing die, a seater/crimp die, and a trim die? Does the Lee Collet Die decap the case?
Question #2: Is $30.00 including shipping a good price for an as new used RCBS 502 scale w/o the box?
Do not be alarmed, I am purchasing everything that I am told to purchase and then I am going to have an experienced reloader show me how to setup and use everthing.

ramrod340You don't need a FL Sizing die. Assuming the Lee die has enough room for the shoulder then the collet die would work. Issue I always hav with neck sizing only on hunting cases is they get TIGHTER after each firing. For target not an issue. For hunting make sure you check each loaded case before you leave for that big hunt of a lifetime. Wouldn't want the rifle to jam when that second shot is needed.
The sizer should decap. Yep need a seater. I have never used a trim die. A cheap way to go is the Lee case trimer.
The new price of the 502 is around $60 so in could shape $30 is in the ball park. There are several scales on Ebay.

Allan DeGroot280A-i dies from Redding is an on-the-shelf item at my local Cabela's
You should have a FL sizer as eventually you'll need to "bump the shoulder" for the action to close on
repeatedly fired cases

remboleast expensive will be Lee dies at about $36-$40...that said,...I have Reddings for my 280AI. I didn't know about the Lees when I got mine.
You'll like the 280AI..a good balance of capacity for the 284 bore. Mine does an easy 3150 with a 140 out of a 24" tube. Fits a standard bolt-face and recoil is a lot less than a 7mm Rem Mag, and the bigger cased 7mm's.
