50 Alaskan capacity?
Hi, does anyone have the water capacity for the 50 Alaskan case?
I'm guessing somewhere around 95gns??

Has anyone built a 50 anything on a Win 94?

TIA

Somebody measured one and got 94.8gns H2O

I wonder if the rimless RUM case could be made to work in a Win M94? It will just fit inside the top of the frame with the feed rails removed. It will fit the magazine tube, but not the hole through the frame. That could be reamed out.
I cut a 375 RUM case down to 2.15", opened the mouth with a 50-70 expander and it holds 93 gns H2O. I think with the case walls blown straight, it should be about identicle to the 50 Alaskan.
I searched for some 50 Alaskan load info and the highest pressure they showed was around 35,000 CUP.
Was the 444 Marlin chambered in the regular M94 or the Big Bore? I think it was the regular one.
So compareing bolt thrust between the 444 and RUM case, the 50 RUM x2.1(or 50 AR short?) should be fine up to 37,900psi. ??
I almost think that a .500 barrel would be better than .510. Then I could use 500 S&W bullets, and have cast bullets from 300-700gns.

A 500 S&W case will fit inside the frame and the mag tube. The body of the case will fit the mag hole in the frame, but not the rim.
The 500 S&W body is .528", the rim is .555"
The base of the RUM case is .545".

Winchester did make the M94 in 444 and 450 Marlin.
I don't know if a 50 would be feasable or not on a 94 action. I do have a .510 barrel just sitting on the shelf waiting for something to be done to it, and a win 94 that is mostly torn down.
I should probably just rebarrel to 356 win and be happy with it.
