I have an affliction/affection for both really big rounds, and really small rounds. I think Rook rifles are really neat, and was thinking that the 32 H&R mag case would offer an interesting avenue for a small cases small bore single shot.

So, anybody neck it down to 22, or 20, or 17, or smaller?

had entered my mind as something cute to do, to .308, on a destroyer carbine...

I think a 32H&R as is would be a tremendous rook rifle round. I have a couple of revolvers and they are phenomenal with LilGun powder.

Handloaders' Digest # 11 (1987), page 5, lists a 22 Midget Mag---made from a 32 S&W Long case. I have a fired case In my collection; I also have a live 22-32 H&R, but I have no reference as to where to get data.

Just making some very rudimentary measurements it looks as if the case would have the potential capacity somewhere between a 218 Mashburn Bee and a 22 K Hornet. Squish it down to .177 caliber and put a 30 degree shoulder on it and you've got a polite 200yd anti prairie dog round, for sure.
I wonder how hard it would be to reduce the original case down to 17 caliber?

In HANDLOADER magazine for 2001 June/July (page 46), Dick Saunders talks a 17 GSG (grand son's gun) made from the 32 S&W and about the 32 Flickertail--- .17 calibre from the 32 H&R mag case.
