8mm-06-- 338-06improved

any one shooting these in a ackly improved?if so what do you think o it. thanks

Have a Ruger in 338-06 imp.,built another ruger
in 338-06,eventually i'll rebarrel the imp. to
338-06,not enought difference for the trouble.
Do like the 338-06.

I have both but neither are improved. I just don't see where you would get much benifit from the improved version. If you are looking for which would be the better of the two go with the .338 over the 8mm.

Its not quite the same but close - I shoot a 35 Whelen improved and I'm very happy with it. 250 bullet at 2675 fps on the chronograph from a 22" barrel.

I have both the standard 338-06 and the 8mm-06AI(my 2nd one). The original 8mm-06 was tested and chronographed, then rechambered to the AI version. You gain very little with the AI versions in calibers above 30-06 so far as velocity is concerned. The BIG advantage to me not having to trim cases hardly at all.
