GSSP200 Partition in 30-06 Ackley
Any one got any good load data they have used for the 200 Partition in 30-06 Ackley Imp?
I've got data, just wondering if you've got any that has already been proven accurate.

Bent FossdalAccuracy in one gun might be shooting shotgun in another. You have to find your good loadings in your own gun.

PaulSI couldn't find an accurate load for a 200 grain bullet in my 03A3. I got some key-hole patterns and tried sveral bullets in that weight but nothing that proved accurate
Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.

Blair338/378Nosler's #6 manual list AA3100 as the most acurate powder with a max of 59grs.
Re-22 was max and its best accuracy at 59.5grs

snowmanI have used a 30-06 and all the old H4831 (about 60 grs)you could get under a 200 speer bullet. That was quite effective on moose. A grain or two less would likely be max for newer powder.

dan belisleI load 57 gr behind a 200 gr bullet in my 30-06 AI, but it really prefers 180 gr bullets. - dan

MuskegManI always loaded H4831SC in my .30-06 Super-Improved (Gibbs version) w/ 200 gr Partitions. Pretty much a case-full (100%+) loading density.
Don't forget RL22. Nosler Manual lists it as giving the highest velocity in the AI with 180 and 200 grainers, I believe.

I would suspect it's not a 1 in 10" twister. Maybe 1 in 12"?

I'll second the RL22. Don't remember which maker, but the 200g always did best with that powder. Strangely, 180's liked RL19 better. Each chamber is different. so don't be afraid to go up or down one in burn rate.
But as mentioned, disabuse yourself of the notion you'll find grandma's old recipe and have it work great in your rifle. If so it will be sheer luck. Best to pick a likely powder, and start maybe four grains under mac and charge a case each in .4g increments until you find what you're looking for. Then you can tweak in the .1g range if you like, and play with seating depth from kissing the lands to out even 20 thou. Seek and ye shall find.

AtkinsonI use 60 grs. of the old 4831 with a 200 gr. Nosler or Woodleigh and get an easy 2700 FPS, it's the old powder that Jack O'Connor pimped pretty hard..I bought a 150 lb. keg some years ago and still have about 30 lbs or so...
Others get the same velocity with Norma MRP...
I get outstanding accuracy in both my 06 and 300 H&H with the 200 gr. bullets by Nosler and Woodleigh....
Both bullets are outstanding killers of both small and large game.

GSSPFor the record. I will now use 68.4 gr of H1000, Fed 210M primers and Win cases.
After running a 300 yd ladder, some 100 yd verification groups, a 300 yd seating depth test which shot best at .020" off the lands, I have a load which shoots a 10-shot, 2.87" at 300 yds, 26 ES, 2853 fps and 8 SD with the 200 gr Partition.

Ackley Improved UserGSSP, I believe you could do 50 fps better with equal PSI with Re25, MRP-2, MRP, or Retumbo. Regards, AIU

GSSPAIU,
Agreed, I hit 2930 fps with the Rel 25. Accuracy was better with the H1000.
Retumbo huh! Now, don't get me going!
