40 caliber 'cat and barnes X
Okay, here's a stupid question. A friend of mine and I have been working up loads for a 400 Brown-Whelen. We've got data on using Hawk bullets, Swift A-Frames and North Fork. Problem is we want to try some Barnes X since Swift has eliminated their .411 line and North Fork is just making the 300 grain at this time. The Barnes we have right now are the 350 grain and 400 grain X's. We have loading data for the Swift A-Frame 350 grain and the Hawk 400 grain.

We have heard that X's (since they are long for weight) increase pressures while shooting the same weight bullet of conventional style. How much should we decrease the conventional loads by before developing the X loads? I've not seen any data for X bullets in these weights from the '06 case.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
