400gr Hornady and Nosler are .735 canalure to tip, which is correct for the 416Rem, but leaves the Rigby with a OAL that's well below SAMMI max (3.610 vs 3.750).
The varance in tip to canalure dimention your seeing is probably refelctive of which case the bullet was designed for.
