i would like to duplicate this cartridge:

9.5 x 57mm w/ a 270gr. bullet & CORDITE "powder".

anybody know what the MV would be out of a 20in. bbl?

the original rifle is gone, but i would like
to experience what granddaddy did.

Have no clue what the Cordite load was. Max pressure is listed as 44,000. Loaded to that pressure in a 20" barrel should give you 2100FPS maybe a touch more with a 270gr.

load for the 9.5x57M-Sch and the 235gr. Speer bullet: case formed from W-W .30-06, primer S&B standard lr, powder 57gr VV N140 (burning range about like 4320 or R15), full capacity load, slowly poured in through a 6" drop tube. I got an instrumental velocity of 2360 fps from the 20" barrel of my M1910 without any signs of high pressure.

You might check John Taylor's "African Rifles + Cartridges". I read it years ago + he does give cordite loadings for some cartridges although he had no respect for this caliber.I have to agree. It was a fun rifle to shoot but somewhat anemic.
