SR4759I guess you could look to the 9.3X72R for inspiration. The 375 Win would be a close modern version. The .375 does not have enough velocity for bullet with heavy jackets. If all you can get are the 9.3X62 bullets they likely will just drill through.

Mark ClarkThere are some Hawk Bullets,
http://www.hawkbullets.com/Pricelist.htm , that may work. They have 9.3s with weights down to 200 grains and 0.030” thick jackets. In a lot of rifles Hawks are notorious for over expanding and coming apart, I believe Jeffeosso refers to them as Hog Grenades. In this situation they may work.

HuviusSeems like it will end up very similar to one of the .360 BPE cartridges Aex Henry was so fond of. Although a smokeless version in this case.

D HumbargerBarnes makes .377 diameter bullets for the 38-55 bore.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

People used to swage down 9.3 bullets
for the old English 360's.

I think they are .366" (9.3mm) bullet diameter.
The 9.3x72 bullets are a popular alternative to cast bullets for the 360BPE rounds I thought.

butchlambertAll I know is I have 28+ rounds and brass. I acquired these several years ago as part of an estate. They were marked 9.3X55 an loaded in 38-55 brass.
No, I will not chamber a barrel for them.

AtkinsonButch,
38-55 bullets are 9.5MM or .375 caliber,
9.3 bullets are .366...
Those bullets should be 9.5x55 in 38-55 brass otherwise they will rattle like a bb in a box car on the way out the bore.

RockratYou could probably paper patch the .366" 9.3 bullets to work in a 38-55. Wheather you would get any expansion or not is another question

D Humbarger38-55 had bore diameters from .377 to .381 unfortunately.

Why win didn't standardize it to .375 still remains a question.
