DuaneinNDAccording to the article in this months Rifle magazine the 257 Kimber will push a 75gr at 3200fps and a 100gr at 2800fps. The article is about the model 84 Kimber action and the cartridges that fit.

rflshtrDuane,
Not quite as good as a .257 DGR!

SR4759I would not say the 25X47 is a bad round especially if you like cast bullets.
The 6X47 is a better choice for jacketed bullets just becasue there is such a huge choice of usable bullets from 55grns up to 100 grains depending on the twist you pick.

CMcDermottIsn't the 6.5x47 Lapua off of the 300 Savage case? And probably should have been called the 6.5x48 to remove confusion with wildcats from the 222 Magnum case.

ZERMELConsider the 25 Hunter.

This is a fine cartridge for both hunting and HBR. I have one of each. I also have a 6x47 another fine performer. Making brass for either one takes a bit of time.

Actually the .257 Kimber is like a Gibbs cartridge in that the case is blown out and the shoulder pushed forward compared to the true .222 Rem Mag based cartridges.
The shoulder on the Kimber cartridge is .091" further forward and the shoulder diameter is .007" larger.

I'd have expected higher speeds given the increased case capacity.
My 6x47 Rem will push the 70 NBT to 3270 and the 80 TTSX to 3000 from my 22" tubed LH Kimber of Oregon M84.

AtkinsonI've killed enough deer, antelope and African Antelope with a 6x45 to suspect the 257x47 is just "more" of the same, and that is not slight praise..I would suspect a 80 or 90 gr. GS Customs bullet would make a very deadly Mule Deer load.
