6MM-06 load data
Where can I find load data for the 6MM-06? I especially need overall case length without a seated bullet.

Puppetmaster:

I don't as yet load the 6-06, that is my next project. I do however load the 6.5-06, 338-06, and 35 Whelen. They all use the same max case length as the 30-06, 2.494. Trim your cases to that spec, or .010 shorter and you are in business.

The overall case length should be the same as the parent cartridge, the 30/06. As for loads, I can run a few loads through Quickload and give you the data you ask for. I need barrel length the bullet you want to use. E-mail me the info and I'll send it to you. Ed Coffey

6m/m x.270 improved -----Fred Barnes and I 1967
It was suppose to be 6m/m 06 Imp. but the reamer went in about .050" to deep. I think it was a Ancient Age mistake or maybe Golden Wedding.
The original Barnes'115gr.6m/m bullet was a deadly mule deer slayer. At the time I was using h870 and h4831. With the wrong( 105gr.)bullet this rifle, to my dismay, turned out to be a real crippler.Bullet selection is hyper critical when using small caliber super fast cartridges.Sadly when I was younger I didn't listen to that advise.I was a great proponent Hydroshock and other nonsence.

I use a 240 gibbs, and the bullet question is paramount. For coyotes (which is what I built it for) it's not that important, but for any bigger game, partitions, bonded, and X bullets are really your only choices. - Dan

The 240 Weatherby and 6mm-.284 are close to the 6mm-06 in case capacity. Reduce starting loads a little and work up.

I have a 6mm/06 AI that pushes 105 Amax's right around 3400fps in a 30" tube with 51gr of IMR 4831 in old military match brass..
