6mm-06 1 in 10 Twist and 105 A-Max's
Guys:

Here is an interesting thing that happened to me yesterday at the range. A week or so ago, I worked up some loads with RL22 and 105A-Max's in my 6mm-06, and they grouped between .370 and .450 inches at 100yds. Man was I encouraged! I couldn't wait to get back out and try the same loads at 200yds. Boy was I dissapointed. The same loads grouped 2 to 3" at 200 yds.

I wonder if it is a case of my twist being to slow for this longer bullet?

Any thoughts?

I think the twist is it. I have a box of 105 AMAX and it sez on the box (1-9") twist.

Try pushing them harder to get the RPM's up.

I believe your twist is too slow. I have a Rem VS 243 with a 26" barrel that has a 1 in 9.125" twist and the 105 AMAX's shoot 5/8" at 100yds, 1.5" at 300, 5" at 600 and can't hit the broad side of a barn at 1000.
I was told that a 1 in 9 twist is marginal with the 243 and believe it now.

Thanks for your reply. When I built this rifle, I agonized over twist rate, and most recommended the 1in10. If I had it to do over, knowing I want to shoot out beyond 600yds, I would have gone 1in9 or 8.
