Is Mr Epperson still around these parts?
I remember years ago he posted a really good article on how he made a 10/22 into a 22 epperson crickett. I would be very interested in seeing that again. Thanks.

Me too. Would love to see it again...and I wrote it. The 10/22 conversion only fired 2 or 3 times before I realized that it needed a dedicated centerfire bolt. Solophenix and I both have been looking for one sincethat time and neither of us has been sucessfull yet.

Does this mean i get to see the article again? I was wondering what would happen if you brought the bolt to a machinist and had them drill a hole right down the center and make a firing pin to fit? Just a thought. I was think about maybe making a 10/22 17 dart, thats why the questions have come up. Thanks.

I'm interested also, would love to see the write up. I also asked about the centerfire bolt, maybe it will all be possible one day, looks like the bolt is the biggest hold back.

The centerfire 10/22 is on hold right now. Has been since I ran into the bolt conflict. The problems with just drilling the rimfire bolt out is the location and size of the firing pin hole and it's interaction with the old firing pin slot. That and the hardness of the Ruger bolt material. These properties put it beyond what I'm capable of doing. If I manage to get someone else to machine one I'd prefer to have the whole bolt machined new as opposed to having someone else make a cobbled up job.
Another reason I've got it on hold is that I'm looking at a manual and/or gas operated selectable system that will work with even the 22LR, and of possibly up to at least the 5.7x28FN and Hornet cases. If and when I can get that action running, the 10/22 may lose some of it's attraction.
