landtrainGetting your wildcat listed in COTW
What does one have to do to get a wildcat cartridge listed in the COTW or other wildcat type publications. Thought I'd take the easy way first and ask.

Wildcat CrazyPossibly the easiest way to get it published in COTW would
be to marry Michael L. McPherson's daughter and promise to
name the 1st grandchild after him.
Seriously,if I thought my wildcat had enough potential to atract his attention,I would try to get in touch with him and sell him on it,s inclusion.
Does your wildcat set new velocity or accuracy records or is it so unusual as to capture the imagination? Ultimately,
it will be up to you to convince an author of it worth.

MartytW"Mic" is quite approachable and a really interesting guy to talk to. Lots of patience with numbskulls like myself, and I was honored to have him sign my (well used) copy of COTW 9th Ed at the last SHOT Show.
As to getting your "cat" listed, it is similar to what WC stated, as there are so many cats, you would have to have one that stands out from the field. Preferably one that either set the standard for a new type of wildcat, an unusual application, novel case design, or (if you get to be so lucky) - once it is loaded commercially, the design has become known enough that it might warrant inclusion.
Now, as to marrying his daughter, not sure if that is an option, and given the fact that he can hit the ram at 550 yards with his 454 Casull, imagine not wanting to tick off your father-in-law (I can relate as mine is a Lt Col (ret) with the 101 AB/Rangers, who teaches firearms classes ...)

GrandpasezIf you can get Ken howell to put it in his new book,
which I hope his health gets good enough, to finish and publish, that can help.Getting writers to test it helps.
At 99 Shot show I got Mick's autograph on a poster I had, as
his book I had was home. The poster was the VV Girl, the one with the saloon pantaloon outfit, holding the old leveraction and holstered pistol. Decolletage and all.Ed.

CMcDermottI understand that Mic got dumped by the publisher and is no longer the editor for COTW.
