22-250 to 22-250 AI
Having a Sako rebarreled. Currently have a 22-250 on it. Read about an AI version for the 22-250 and considering the switch. Would use the gun for the shooting range and varmints. What is the differnce between the two and the ballistics gain? Assuming the AI would cycle through the action without any modifications to the rifle one. As far as reloading would different dies be needed and are there published loads for it? If not, do you start with the std load and work up? Thanks for any help.

I believe the current Nosler manual has load info. Here is a bit of info. I found:
www.deerstalker.com/22_250_AI.htm
I used to have a .220Swift, but if I was looking for a fast .22, I would go .22-250AI.

Auto- 22-250 AI data can be found everywere, including the Nosler manual. Yes new dies would have to be used. But as far as fireforming, you can shoot the standard 22-250 thru your chamber and presto--22-250AI case.

One of the REAL bennies is the brass will last a good deal longer and need less trimmimg due to the less taper in the case. Same for the 250 Sav when you "improve" it too.More velocity, sometimes better accuracy and longer case life.Works for me.

auto,
I have two rifles in 22/250AI and would highly recommend you try one. One of mine is on a 700 Remington, the other is a 98 Mauser. Extremely accurate and fast too. e-mail me if you want any more details. stepchild61@hotmail.com
