WW-748 Powder In .458 X 2" AMERICAN??
I have a can of WW-748 ball powder and would like to use it in reloading my .458 X 2" AMERICAN using 350 to 400 grain Bullets. My Rifle is a rebored Remington M-722. Could someone suggest a good & safe load using this powder? <THANKS>

I have the similar 450 Marlin and 748 is a bit slow for this case. You might want to try using 3031 as starting data and work carefully up.

I have found H322 as tops for 400 grain bullets. Lots of data for it.

Thanks much, for your reply, North61. I didn't know if the WW-748 would be too slow or what. I have some H322 powder; wondering how many grains of this powder should I use for a 350 up to 400 grainer? I've been using IMR-4198 & IMR-3031 powders, with 300 grain bullets, using 42.0 grains of IMR-4198, for a good Deer load, which doesn't have much recoil. I don't have a recoil pad on my rifle. How do you like your .450 Marlin?

My reference also lists RL7 and IMR4895 as powders to use in this round.

Thanks much, Guys! beer It just so happens that I found a can of RL-7 powder I was using in my 7.62 X 39 m/m rifle. So I'll give it a try with the 350's and maybe the 400 grainers. I let my Niece's Boyfriend shoot my .458 X 2" American loaded up with 400 grain Speer FNSP bullet in front of 48.0 grains of 3031. Now he is a Husky built Guy about 6' 3" and weighs around 250. It kicked him pretty good, as he told me. lol <THANKS AGAIN!>

Here's some data for RL7.

These loads were developed for a Win M94 Big Bore with a max working pressure of 50-52 kpsi [vs 38 kpsi for the Std M94] 1 in 20" twist. Unsure of the bbl length.
