Here is picture of 3 of my biggest 585s, shown
with 06. 1st is my 585 Hubel Super Mag and
I have one in a PH. 2nd is 4" long 585 Rimmed Hubel Mag
designed for max speed in guns needing lower pressures,
I put first one in 87 levergun as asingle shot.

And 3rd of course my 585HE which we have in 9 different
types of guns. I can also make rimmed version of it
using 577-500 brass, making it 585RHE..Ed

Very impressive, wish I had the cash to play with some stuff like that!

How did extraction/ejection work in the 1887?

How do you swag a belt onto a case?
I've looked every where for this information before I asked you so I wouldn't bother you over something stupid.
This must be something very rarely done.

On the 87 I put in a conventional bottom
pivoted extractor, operated by the
front surface of the lever when it
is about 2/3 the way down.
The regular extractors are a pain.

To put belt on cases whether 585 or 700---
First I use cases that have proper thickness
and large inside radius where the belt goes.
Then I use case spinner/lathe to put on the start of a belt step with the sides angled
out above the belt step. Then swage the sides
of the case to the final case size.With the
swage die coming against the belt step.
And then expand or size the top to what
is needed. On 585 size top of basic brass,
on 700 made from bmg brass expand case.Ed

We are getting a run of my 585HEs, 3rd in pic, made at
Bertrams in AUS. He can make them on a regular
basis along with his Cheytac/Gibbs case runs that
he has continuing orders for.

All of the first manufacturing processes for those cases
and our 585HE are the same and use same tooling,
and then only have to change the head forming die,
and bunter on the last operation for each case.

I've got the case in 6 different tyoes of guns.
