I have at times coveted a 338x06, but all I hunt is whitetail/pigs that almost never weigh over 200lbs. While I have never shot one with a338cal, but my limited experience with a 358cal is that they don't open up fast enough. Any way, I've just about given up using the 30-06 on deer as being more than I need. capt david
