Anyone load or shoot the 338-08 cartridge? 308 necked up to 338. Looking for anything about it.

<Jeff in ND>Ken Waters did an article (pet Load I believe) on it in Handloader several years ago, As I recall he though highly of it.

ElkslayerI had a Rem M7 rebarreled to one by Montana Rifleman. It has a 22" #4 contour bbl. I settled on 200gn Hornadys, 46 grains of H4895.
Disclaimer - This is a safe load in my rifle, work up your loads according to normal load development standards.
I am going to try to use this rifle and load combination to take my elk with this year, however after spening some time in my area and seeing just how open the terrain is I might reconsider for a rifle/cartridge combo which will allow for more range than this cartridge might offer. My area is wide open and long shots might be more of the rule.
