.240 Cobra
Anybody have any experience with this caliber? I am thinking of buying a rifle so chambered.

It is apparently the .220 Swift necked up to .243 caliber.

Sounds interesting but probably could not compete with the .243 Win.

I may buy this rifle anyway. Cool

Wouldn't that be the 6mm Lee Navy? The 220 Swift was the 6mm Lee Navy necked down to .224.

I think you could call it that - an improved 6mm Lee Navy with a shorter case length and neck. The case also has the larger rim diameter of the .220 Swift.

Interestingly, at least to me, is that it's not listed in my standard reference work on this subject, Cartridges of the World. I had to do some internet digging to find out anything about it.

Well, I decided to pass on it.

As I surmised above, why would I bother with the .240 Cobra when a .243 Win. is just as good and a lot less cost and work?

I realize that the same argument could be made against just about any wildcat, but this one really does not seem to offer anything more or better than the .243.

Is there a 6mm wildcat based on the 375 H&H case? I was thinking maybe an 85g Partition at 4000 fps?

.244 H&H. I don't think it got to 4000 fps?

Seyfried had a 6mm on an improved 7mm/264 mag case. One he had was a 28" barreled Ruger No 1.
That may have reached 4000.

After looking at every .243/6mm cartridge out there, I decided to go with the 6mm Creedmoor.

I now have one.

It’s the only one I want and will ever own in that bore diameter.
