D Humbarger6.5x270 Weatherby Mag
I have a customer that has interest in one. How can it be any better than the 264 Win Mag?

ramrod340Can't see how. The 264 & 7mmWby have the same capacity. Neck the 270 down and loose ground. Plus the dual radius pain in the butt.
6.5x300wby give more capacity but like the 6.5STW the can be rough on barrels.
Take the 264 put a nice throat on it and stick it in a 26" and it would be hard to beat

MickinColoA necked down 270 Wby to 6.5 is only 86.74 grains total case capacity.

D HumbargerI don't think either is better than the 6.5x284 overall.

Now Doug that wasn't the question.

Take a 6.5x284 in a long action and a 264 both in 24" barrels I bet the difference is less than 50fps.
6.5x284, 6.5-06 or 264 choose your posion. All will get it done just fine. I can sure see no reason for a 6.5x270Wby

gerrybthere are many calibers out there that are "BETTER" THAN OTHERS, big deal.I own all three calibers and the 6.5 weatherby is a great round. I have killed several deer at 700 yards and a turkey at 805 yards. All the other gins will do that but face it it is just a caliber no better than any other.
